All funds go to help with Steve's medical condition.

This delicious lasagna with lots of sauce is good any time and really handy for holidays or dinner guests. You can prepare it a head of time.

     INGREDIENTS:
  • 8 ounces lasagna noodles
  • 8 ounces of Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons of minced garlic.
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped up
  • 1 large can (28 ounces) Hunt's diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (1 lb. 12 ounces) Hunt's tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper

PREPARATION:

Fill a large pan with water and bring to a boil. Break 1/2 pound of lasagna noodles in half, add them to the boiling water and cook until they're soft. (Approximately 20 to 30 minutes) stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

While the noodles are cooking start the sauce. Get a large frying pan, add your ground beef, chopped onions, green peppers and garlic. Cook until meat is done. Takes about 10 minutes.

Then add your Hunt's diced tomatoes and your Hunt's tomato sauce and cheddar cheese. Stir the mixture until cheese is melted. (3 - 5 minutes)

Drain; noodles and rinse thoroughly with warm water. Put a thin layer of the sauce on the bottom of a pre-greased glass baking dish. Arrange a layer of noodles on top of the sauce, then add a thin layer of Mozzarella cheese and another layer of sauce, then another layer of noodles, sauce, cheese, and continue adding layers until the baking dish is almost full.

On top of the lasagna put a thick layer of Mozzarella cheese, sprinkle another layer of sharp cheddar cheese, then bake at 350° degrees until the cheese on top is totally melted. It normally takes about 25 to 30 minutes.

*Additional information* Make sure you use Hunt's tomato sauce and Hunt's diced tomatoes. It's also critical to rinse the noodles. And don't cover the noodles while they're cooking or it will boil over on the stove.
